Elizabeth Cook: Elizabeth Cook, the bold and brilliant Nashville singer-songwriter and country music outlaw, will release 'Exodus of Venus' June 17 (Agent Love Records/Thirty Tigers), her first album since 2010's lauded 'Welder.' The eleven new original songs represent a knife-sharp take on heartache and hardship that's cathartic and visceral, a transcendent reflection on hard times, survival, and rebirth.
Since her last album in 2010, Elizabeth Cook’s life has been uncharacteristically tumultuous. A divorce, six deaths, and a fire at her family’s homestead left the country musician in a state of mind she wasn’t used to. “I had been shielded from tragedy for a long time,” she says. “And then I got repeated doses in a short amount of time. It changes a person”.

Lilly Hiatt: Lilly Hiatt is indeed her father John's daughter, but she is forging her own wide path in the alt/country/folk rock world. Singing in a barbed lilt full of deep worry and gritty determination in equal measure, Lilly conveys emotions too finely shaded to be easily named, yet will be familiar to any listener who’s had their heart broken-or has broken a heart. Feisty and rough-around-the-edges, full of humor and bite and attitude from a woman who proclaims, “I’d rather throw a punch than bat my eye.” Lilly transforms a rough patch of life into smart, sturdy, sometimes even hilarious songs that don’t sit squarely in any one genre. Austin folk rock, Pacific Northwest indie, pre-Oasis Britpop, New York punk ca. 1977, some twang and some Neko Case and Kim Deal.
